Q: What is Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: Capital Bank Mobile Deposit is an easy way to use a mobile phone to deposit checks into your checking, savings or money market account.  Other commonly used terms for mobile deposit are "remote deposit" or "remote deposit capture."
 
Q: Is there a limit on the number of checks I can deposit?
A: There is not a set limit on the number of checks you can deposit using Capital Bank’s Mobile Deposit, but only one check can be deposited per transaction. There is a dollar amount threshold for daily and monthly deposit volume. (See Q&A below.)

Q: What do I do with my paper checks after I have deposited them?
A: We recommend that you retain your paper check for 10 days after your account has been credited.  After the 10 days you can destroy the check.
 
Q: On which devices is Mobile Deposit currently available?
A: Capital Bank Mobile Deposit is available within the iPhone and Android mobile banking apps and can be used on an iPhone, Android phones and iPod touch.
  • Android: OS 2.3.3 or above, API level 10 or above
  • Apple iOS: iOS 5 or above
 
Q: Who can use Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: All customers that have valid Online Banking credentials, a Capital Bank Mobile Deposit eligible account (Checking, Savings or Money Market) and have the Capital Bank Mobile App for iPhone, Android phones or iPod touch can use the Capital Bank Mobile Deposit service. You can find Capital Bank Mobile Apps in the Apple App Store and the Android Market.
 
Q: I have a BlackBerry. Can I use Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: Capital Bank Mobile Deposit is not available for BlackBerry devices.
 
Q: I have an iPad. Can I use Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: Capital Bank Mobile Deposit is currently not available for iPad devices.
 
Q: Is there a cost to deposit my check with Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: There is no cost associated with the Capital Bank’s mobile deposits.
 
Q: Can I deposit any type of check with Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: Capital Bank Mobile Deposit can accept most check types, including two party (personal), payroll, and government checks. However, Capital Bank Mobile Deposit cannot process the following check types:
  • Money Orders
  • Traveler's Checks
  • Official/Cashier's checks that are not drawn on Capital Bank
  • Foreign items
  • HELOC Access & Credit Card Advance Checks
  • Comdata Checks
  • 3rd Party Checks (checks made payable to someone other than the account owner)
  • Joint Payee Checks- Checks made payable to more than one payee. (Check could be made payable to Mr. AND Mrs. Smith and is deposited in an account where Mrs. Smith is the only owner)

Also, please take extra care when depositing larger dimension business checks.  You may need to hold your device farther away to capture the entire check image.

 
Q: What are the availability options for Capital Bank Mobile Deposit?
A: If a check is deposited before the cutoff time of 5:00 p.m. EST, your funds will be available the next business day. If a check is deposited after the cutoff time you will receive credit the following business day. (Special rules apply to new customers (first 30 days). Deposits may be held up to 7 business days after the day of deposit.)
 
Q: When I take a picture of the check, do I need to capture the whole check in my picture, or is it okay to just capture the amount?
A: You should take a picture of the whole check, front and back. The app will prompt you to take a photo of the front and the back of the check.  Incomplete images will not be accepted.
 
Helpful hints to make using Mobile Deposit more efficient.
  • Ensure the check amount entered matches the amount written.
  • Verify that the back of the check is properly endorsed.
