Originally from Pittsburgh, Pa. and a South Florida resident for more than 30 years, Patricia Hayhurst brings more than 40 years lending experience to Capital Bank. Her background encompasses senior management in banking, mortgage banking, real estate and consumer lending, and management of her own mortgage banking corporation for almost 25 years.

Patti earned a Master’s in Business Administration with concentration in International Finance from the University of Miami as well as the Executive International Certificate in International Trade from Colgate Darden Graduate Institute, University of Virginia.

She has been an active member of the Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Greater Miami Chambers of Commerce and has been involved with Mortgage Bankers of America and the Mortgage Bankers Association of Greater Miami since 1990, having served as their President, and afterwards as a Governor of Mortgage Bankers Association of Florida. She had been on the Board of Directors for Miami-Dade County YMCA for 9 years and served on the University of Miami Citizen’s Board for 12 years and has been on the Dean’s Executive Advisory Committee and on the Business School Board of Directors. She has served as Board member of the South Florida Partners in Home Ownership (set up by President Clinton), and on the advisory committee of the Fannie Mae Foundation, who formed the Miami-Dade Community College’s first Mortgage Finance Program to provide the education and promotion of insight and awareness of lending to minorities. She was a finalist in the finance category of the 1997 Ernst and Young’s Florida Entrepreneur of the Year, and a finalist for the 1998 Florida Small Business of the Year. Patricia has been interviewed on the nationally televised Today Show on NBC Channel 6 as the mortgage refinance expert. Hayhurst Mortgage, Inc. was finalist in South Florida Business Journal, Business of the Year and she was finalist in South Florida Businesswoman of the Year. In 2004 and again in 2008 Hayhurst Mortgage, Inc. received the Thelma Gibson Excellence Award from the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and she has served on their Board of Directors. Ms. Hayhurst has also been named in South Florida Business Journal’s Heavy Hitters in Finance. She has had many industry articles written and published locally and nationally and been a requested speaker for many years, and most recently at the International Money Laundering Conference attended by more than 1,600 attendees from over 70 countries.

As President of her own corporation Hayhurst Mortgage, Inc. and Hayhurst Title Services, Patti handled more than 5 billion in real estate mortgages in the South Florida area. Hayhurst Mortgage, Inc. made the “Lists” of Largest Women Owned Companies in Florida and Largest Independent Lenders for seventeen (17) years up through 2010.

Patti joined the residential lending team at Capital Bank in May 2011 and is one of the top lenders, bringing years of experience and many of her past customers to the bank, where she can offer so many more products and services. Her customized approach to each transaction offers solutions to even the most complicated mortgage requests.
